On June 13, 2024, representatives of the Luka-Vukovar ltd , Krešimir Murvaj, Igor Leko and Zvonko Ragač had the opportunity to participate in a panel discussion in Baja, Hungary, called the Baja Grain Partnership.
On that occasion, the representative of the Luka-Vukovar ltd, Krešimir Murvaj, Head of the Department of Agency and Forwarding Affairs, participated in the panel discussion, which aimed to discuss the main issues such as increasing logistics efficiency, strengthening the market position in the region, green logistics initiatives, training and education of river transport personnel, encouraging innovation etc.
In order to increase traffic in a narrow area that includes ports such as Vukovar, Baja and Mohac through mutual cooperation, our representative Mr. Murvaj pointed out several strategies which can be applied.
One of them is the importance of joint marketing efforts: Collaborate on marketing campaigns to promote the region as a strategic hub for grain and other cargo, highlighting the collective capacities and advantages of these ports.
In the same way, Mr. Murvaj emphasized the importance of economic incentives. Coordinated economic incentives, such as reduced port fees or tax incentives, should be provided to attract new businesses and increase cargo flows.
Moreover, it is a priority to establish joint ventures with shipping companies, logistics providers and exporters to attract more business and leverage the combined strenghts of the ports.
Giving priority to the organization of more such conferences and panel discussions that could contribute to networking and business connection of entrepreneurs and river ports with grain producers, introducing grain producers to another form of transport such as river transport and the advantages of this type of transport compared to rail or truck – it is the conclusion of this year’s XIV. Baja Grain Partnership Conference in Hungary.
