On 03.04.2024., a delegation from the National Company “Maritime Danube Ports Administration” SA Galati, Romania, visited the Public Institution of Port Authority Vukovar and Luka-Vukovar d.o.o. The delegation was led by Mr. Tivilichi Nicolae Dan, Deputy General Manager, and included Mr. Petrea Gabriel Alin, Marketing Referent, Mr. Laszlo Erdelyi, Representative of CN APDM SA Galati, and Mr. Vladan Mišić, Representative of CN APDM SA Galati.
The hosts from the Port of Vukovar were Mr. Marijan Kuprešak with his associates, as well as representatives of the Public Institution of Port Authority Vukovar, Mrs. Katarina Kuća and Mrs. Marija Mandarić.
The meeting focused on the previous cooperation between the National Company “Maritime Danube Ports Administration” SA Galati, Romania and the Public Institution of Port Authority Vukovar on the WANDA and COWANDA projects, as well as on the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of inland waterway transport.
The main topics of the meeting were:
- Review of the previous cooperation between the two companies on the WANDA and COWANDA projects
- Discussion of the current state of inland waterway transport in the Danube region
- Identification of potential areas for future cooperation
- Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of inland waterway transport
The Memorandum of Understanding:
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the National Company “Maritime Danube Ports Administration” SA Galati, Romania and the Public Institution of Port Authority Vukovar was planned to be signed in late May 2024 with the aim of strengthening cooperation between the two companies in the field of inland waterway transport.
The MoU covers a wide range of areas of cooperation, including:
- transport of general cargo
- transport of containerized cargo
- passenger transport
- mutual promotion through specific actions and events
- advisory assistance in the process of adapting port policy and good practices according the European Union standards in the field
- exchange of experience and technical visits in all the ports under the jurisdiction of the two administration from Romania and the Republic of Croatia mentioned above
- common identification and approach of EU funded projects intended to improve port activities in Romania and the Republic of Croatia
- information exchange on the traffic quantity that takes place in the ports of the two administrations, by the type of the cargo
The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will mark a significant step forward in cooperation between the two institutions. This collaboration will contribute to the development of inland waterway transport in the Danube region.
