On 15.05.2019. a press conference was held at the premises of port od Vukovar (Luka-Vukovar d.o.o.) on the topic of previous results of transshipment of concessionaires in the port area of the port of Vukovar (Luka-Vukovar d.o.o.). representatives of the city of Vukovar, mayor Ivan Penava and his associates, representatives of the Vukovar-Srijem county, deputy prefect Damir Barna and director of the Vukovar Port Authority Alen Jakumetović were present.
On this occasion, the director of the Port Authority Vukovar, Alen Jakumetović, pointed out that in 2018, 418.000 tons were transshiped, representing 50% of the total transhipment at the level of total inland navigation in the Republic of Croatia. Likewise, the number of arrivals of river tourist cruise ships increased by 12.31% compared to last year 2017, with 31.972 guests from cruise ships in the city of Vukovar, or 231 arrivals.
Director of port of Vukovar (Luka-Vukovar d.o.o.) Marijan Kuprešak pointed out that in 2018 a total of 342.000 tons were transhiped, which represents an increase of 37.4% compared to the same period in 2017. Likewise, 128.446 tonnes of cargo were transhiped in the first 4 months of 2019, an increase of 101% compared to the same period last year. Furthermore, the director reported that port of Vukovar (Luka-Vukovar d.o.o.) is involved in the EU project Smart port, which aims to increase the efficiency of the work of project users through digitization and new environmentally advanced technologies, as well as to improve the ecological component of the business.
At the end of the conference, the mayor of the city of Vukovar Ivan Penava also addressed the audience, who pointed out that the Republic of Croatia is not yet sufficiently aware as a Danube country and that through the strategic position of the city of Vukovar and port of Vukovar (Luka-Vukovar d.o.o.) we can achieve very good economic results and thus contribute to the development of both the city of Vukovar and the entire region.
